Powering Up The System

Before anything goes live, it’s crucial to get the equipment up and running. In this section, you'll learn how to properly turn on the director’s board, TV screens, and communication devices to prepare for a smooth service.
Objective: Start up all necessary tech for the director to run cameras, communicate, and monitor the broadcast.
Step 1: Turn On the Director's Board
Device: Datavideo HD Digital Video Switcher
  • Locate the switch on the back left side of the switcher.
  • Flip the switch up to power on the board.
  • Wait for it to boot up fully before moving on.
  • Check that preview and program outputs are visible on the monitors.

 Step 2: Power On the Intercom System
Device Location: Below the TV monitors
  • Find the switch labeled "Power" on the left side of the intercom box.
  • Flip the switch up or press it in to turn it on.
  • Do a quick mic check with a camera operator to confirm communication is working.

Step 3: Turn On the Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
Device Location: Below the intercom system
  • Press the power button on the left side of the DVR unit.
  • Wait for the screen or indicator light to show that the device is active.

Step 4: Turn On the TVs (Monitors)
TV Power Button Location: On the back right side, top button
  • Reach behind each TV and press the top button on the right side panel.
  • Wait for the input signal to display.
  • Make sure all monitors are showing the correct feeds
