Switching Cameras

Switching cameras is where all the preparation comes together. It’s the live execution of visual storytelling in deciding which shot goes live and when. A good switch keeps the service visually engaging, distraction-free, and focused on what matters. In this section, you’ll learn how to preview shots, make smooth transitions, and keep the flow aligned with what’s happening on stage.
Main Source (Camera Switching)
  • This section controls what goes live on screen.
  • Use the buttons labeled 1, 2, and 3 to switch between live camera angles.
  • Always preview your shot before switching.

Sub Source (Media Input)
  • Leave the Sub Source set to Input 4 at all times.
  • Input 4 is connected to the Online Presentation Computer.
  • When playing any full-screen media, set your Main Source to 4. This applies during:
    • Pre-Service
    • Video Announcements
    • Confession of Faith
    • Outro Video

PIP/KEY Settings
  • Keep the PIP/KEY setting on LUMA PGM at all times.
  • This enables lyrics, lower thirds, and other on-screen graphics to appear correctly over the live video.

Do Not Adjust

  • Do not use the Effects buttons
  • Do not use the Switching knob
  • Leave Speed set to 3
  • Do not touch any other buttons or controls on the director's board unless you’ve been specifically trained to do so.
NOTE: Keeping everything in its correct setting helps us avoid technical issues and ensures a professional, distraction-free service. Stick to what’s listed here, and always ask a lead if you’re unsure about anything.
